What a great day it was for baseball on this Saturday afternoon at Western Hills. The day started with the Elder Panthers taking on Sidney. Elder's offense jumped all over Sidney and ousted Sidney in five innings with a 12-2 mercy rule victory. The Panther attack was led by Daniel Schwarz who went 4 for 4 with two doubles and Jeremy White who was a perfect 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs. Elder hurler Matt Pate got his seventh victory on the season. Next for Elder is Upper Arlington/Reynoldsburg in the Columbus Region Thursday at 5p.m. at Dublin Coffman High School.
Follwing Elder was LaSalle.
The Lancers took on Oak Hills. The Highlanders were looking for revenge for an earlier 6-0 shutout loss to the Lancers. A late rally by the Lancers denied Oak Hills in its effort for a trip to Regionals. I do not have the information on the game yet, but I watched brief highlights on the news that LaSalle scored two runs in the 7th to defeat Oak Hills 5-3. LaSalle will face the winner of Mason/Huber Heights Wayne on Thursday at 5 p.m. at UC.
Moeller was the next game and faced Fairmont. The Crusaders felt confident with one of their top two pitchers Robby Sunderman taking the mound. Fairborn gave Moeller and Sunderman all they can handle on this day. Information on the game has yet to come out in detail, but I heard at one point Moeller was down 5-3 in the 6th inning. Though the Mighty Moe came back strong and sent Fairborn packing unhappy with a 8-5 victory. Moeller faces the winner of Centerville/Fairfield Thursday at 2p.m. at UC.
